The Cycler Rifle was one of multiple projects built for a prop construction class themed around the Star Wars films, led by Pamela Workman at Brenau University. This project’s limitation was that our inspiration had to come from the prequel trilogy. Because of this, I chose to use the blasters carried by the Naboo Security Force shown in Phantom Menace and the Cycler rifles used by the Tusken Raiders in Phantom Menace and the bounty hunter Zam Wesell in Attack of the Clones as my inspiration for the build. This project was a combined metalworking, carpentry, and 3D printing, with a majority of the components being sourced from trashed items in the spirit of the Star Wars method of kit basing to construct props. The barrel was made from a golf club, while the receiver was a chrome sink drive pipe with 3D printed caps to retain the barrel and present a silhouette that resembles the Naboo blasters. The stock was cut and sanded by hand in a combined style of the Naboo blasters and Zam Wesell’s rifle with the addition of the metal butt plate. The scope was a combination of sockets, lug nut, and specialty wrench used for light fixtures. The Tusken rifle was used as a reference for its placement on the side of the rifle. And the trigger and trigger guard are made from a metal wall hanger.
