For Gainesville Theatre Alliance’s 2024 production of A Monster Calls, I worked as the Assistant Technical Director and Fly Captain. In this production, both Jake Borniak, playing Conor, and Patrick Lacey, playing Monster, were flown throughout the performance. My responsibility as Fly Captain was to keep the performers both on the fly system and around it safe while operating the vertical lift of the system. As well as assist with installing the fly system by ZFX inc. under the guidance of Johnny Pickett. Because of my involvement in the installation, maintenance, and running of the system, following the run of the show, I was responsible for leading the deinstallation of the system.
